As you begin planning your visit to Women at the Well, there are several things you should be aware of. First among them is that all visiting groups must schedule their visit in advance, and that every group is limited to a maximum of ten (10) individuals. For available dates, and to schedule your visit, please contact Daniel Schott (, (515) 822-4599).

Second, all individuals visiting Women at the Well must pass a background check in order to be admitted to the facility. Women at the Well must submit the names, dates of birth and social security numbers of everyone requesting approval to worship at least three weeks in advance of your visit. (Don't worry about this right now, but do be aware of the requirement! You will be contacted about eight (8) weeks prior to your groups scheduled visit with more information about this process.)

Lastly, be aware that anyone who is already on the visitor’s list of any person incarcerated in any of Iowa’s correctional facilities will NOT be permitted to attend a worship service at Women at the Well. (This is an Iowa Department of Corrections policy, and there are no exceptions.)

We have two primary goals for everyone who visits Women at the Well. First, that each of our visitors has a safe and meaningful worship experience. Second, and equally important, that all of the women who make Women at the Well their spiritual home have a safe and secure environment in which to worship.

To this end, the Iowa Correctional Institution for Women (ICIW) asks all of our visitors to comply with a simple set of rules which are designed to help us ensure a safe worship environment. If you are planning to attend worship with us, please review these instructions completely. Visitors should be aware that failing to comply with any of these rules could result in their being excluded from the worship experience.
